My adopted daugher who is 28, works for In Home Support services, and she was talking to her cliente and a friend of mine who she has become very fond of and has invited her to her home for thanksgiving since she will be otherwise home alone not having a thanksgiving dinner. Anyway now that the build up is out of the way, to the point,

She was talking (my daughter) about the number and types of pies she is going to make, they include three each of pumpkin and apple, 2 cherry, and 1 pecan pie as a special request by our friend. I turned to my daughter with a lilt of laughter in my voice and tears streaming down my face and asked her if she was going to make a mince meat (sp?) pie?

She looked at me strangely and asked why? I nearly choked trying to reply, I said "For Ya Ya of course." This is what we called my mother to all my children and grandchildren, she has been dead seven years now, and the holidays are just not the same without her, but at least this year I was able to laugh a little at her not being with us and how she always wanted mince meat pie at the hoidays.

Remember to put a candle in the window this christmas, even its batter operated, so those you love both living and dead can find their way home this year. I WILL!
